Youth as Assets

This introductory workshop is designed to expose adults to the power and value of involving young people in their local asset initiative. The session blends a variety of interactive techniques that both teach and demonstrate strategies for effectively engaging young people. This workshop can be facilitated by either an adult or a youth and adult team.

Participants will:

  • Learn about the three levels of youth engagement
  • Identify the possibilities for youth engagement in their community
  • Understand the Spectrum of Attitudes theory and strategies for ensuring their initiative increases the number of resource-driven opportunities
  • Develop strategies to help ensure youth-friendly meetings and projects and opportunities available to youth are strength-based and empowering
  • Gain the information needed to build strong youth and adult partnerships
  • Realize the importance of aligning the initiative to strong relationship building and youth engagement principles and practices

Who Should Attend: Adults who are or will be part of an initiative based on the 40 Developmental Assets framework and interested in finding ways to engage youth in more meaningful ways.

Length: 4 hours

Group Size: 16–32 participants

Price: $1,800 per session, plus participant materials* and trainer travel expenses. Cost based on number of participants.
